According to a note published on the municipality's website,
it will be located on the land of the Amoreiras golf course.
The space, built on one of the reservoirs of EPAL - EmpresaPública de Águas Livres, will be the result of a partnership between the Lisbon
City Council and the Parish Council of Campo de Ourique.
The design of this space includes a restaurant with a
terrace, fields for practicing sports, and other facilities.
“We are united in the sustainability and defense of Lisbon”,
said the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, on a visit to the space on November
25.
Why I am sceptic about the purpose of the new park being “for everyone”: Martim Moniz. They used to have Cultural initiatives there during weekends. You´d see kids playing, adults talking to one another, concerts/dances/cultural initiatives going on. Such a pleasant, easy-going vibe. That was over quicker than it began. What I mean is, if "good social environment” is what they´re after with “new” park, why abolish the other possibilities? Why did we lose that? It felt more home-y/neighbourhood spirit than the place I´ve lived in for over 20 years. Maybe investing in what was lost would benefit us all more than just building another park. Maybe this park is to make up for loss of “Jardim da Parada”, for the sake of the Metro red line? Hum. Might be. (I like Jardim da Parada, btw.)
