The addition of unique landscaping to the project, announced today, will give future residents an opportunity to enjoy a private oasis of peace and quiet, while still being close to the vibrant cultural centre of Lisbon.
Each apartment ranges from T1 to T4 and features a well-lit kitchen that receives sunlight from both sides, as well as a generous living area. One of the most unique features of Atelier will be its private gardens, the first images for which have been shared today. Four out of the eight apartments, located on the ground and first floors, will have access to a beautiful private garden of over 65m2, carefully landscaped by BALDIOS Arquitectos Paisagista to reflect four green cocoons.
These serene green spaces offer residents a welcome respite from the bustle of the city, and are perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or a lazy afternoon spent reading a book. The gardens also provide a wonderful backdrop for entertaining guests or enjoying a meal al fresco.
“The gardens reflect the stories of the transformations and tensions that the waterfront of Marvila underwent over time” explains Pedro Gusmão, one of the senior landscape architects at BALDIOS Arquitectos Paisagista who is leading the project.
“On one hand, it takes us back to the more poetic side of the decline that palaces and gardens of the eastern part of Lisbon underwent before the industrial expansion, and on the other hand, to the intense force that was the industrialization of Marvila during the twentieth century and that today is abandoned, in similar circumstances that the palaces and gardens were in the beginning of the last century. The gardens are a manifestation and reverberation of this pulsar to which Marvila is subjected and opening correspondences and repository of times, places, and stories.”
The industrial and historical environment of Marvila has recently honed it into a hub for artists, designers and entrepreneurs. The area is home to a vibrant collection of art galleries, film studios, design shops and sprawling vintage markets around every turn. Weekends are best spent running, cycling or strolling by the recently restored riverside docks or taking in a concert at a nearby cultural association. Conveniently located between Lisbon and the Parque das Naçoes business district, Atelier is also well connected. It’s a ten-minute drive to the airport and Santa Apolonia train station is only five minutes by car.
Atelier is scheduled for completion in early 2024. With its elegant design, unique private gardens, and prime location in one of Lisbon's most vibrant neighbourhoods, these homes will appeal to those who enjoy city living at a slower pace.
