The number of vacant jobs registered by the Ministry of Labour is increasing and exceeded 60,000 in the third quarter of last year, according to data obtained by Jornal de Notícias. Sales, IT and call center technicians are among the most unfilled vacancies.
At the end of September 2022, there were 61,626 job offers that did not generate interest among the unemployed, which, according to the JN, is 43.9% more than in the same period of 2021 and 19.9% more than the number of vacant jobs registered in the second quarter of 2022.
More than a third of vacant jobs are located in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (27,377). In the North, there were 18,117 vacancies to be filled and in the Centre 9,844.
With regard to the type of jobs, most of the vacancies were for salespeople, specialists in information and communication technologies, direct customer support personnel and workers in the extractive industry, construction and transport.
The jobs mentioned sound like very low wage jobs. It would be interesting to list a typical salary for these jobs. Is it possible to rent a T1 with this salary?

Let these low paying jobs for immigrants. The Portuguese deserve and need better wages.

The Portuguese Government should give Portuguese citizenship to the Ukrainian refugees that want to come and live in Portugal, enroll them in school and teach them the Portuguese language, and the skills necessary so they can fill up all these vacant jobs, it would be a compassionate human good deed to do since there's millions of Ukrainians looking for a home and jobs in order to survive. The Portuguese authorities should look into this, Portugal needs more people to fill those vacant jobs.

Thats an excellent suggestion Tony to reach out and help our fellow men but the men except over 65 have to stay and fight by law and would the women be able to make enough money at these low paying jobs to rent if the Portuguese are experiencing difficulty? I'm for it though.

How to apply for these jobs
By Zahid Ali Khan from Other on 03 Apr 2023, 16:29
You somehow fail to point out, that most of these jobs likely are severely underpaid, thus they generate no interest among job seekers.
With a ridiculous inflation rate espcielly for food, it is unclear how people in Portugal should be able to survive on salaries around 1000 euros (before tax in most cases).
