The demonstrations will begin in Lisbon (Instituto Superior Técnico, Faculty of Arts and Psychology at the University of Lisbon and Dona Luísa de Gusmão Secondary School), Porto (Soares dos Reis Artistic School) and Faro (University of Faro and Tomás Cabreira Secondary School).
Justifying the protest to Lusa, activist Teresa Núncio, spokeswoman for the occupations to end fossil fuels in Portugal, said that the climate crisis remains "and continues to get worse", and "is neither normal nor acceptable for the future of students or anyone in society".
The demonstrators are calling for the end of fossil fuels by 2030 and "100% renewable and affordable electricity for all families by 2025".
