MEPs also approved the head of state's trips to Yuste, Spain, to present the Carlos V European Prize to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and to Strasbourg, France, at the invitation of the President of the European Parliament, both in May.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa's trip to South Africa, between 04 and 09 June, at the invitation of the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, on an official visit and to celebrate the Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, was unanimously approved.
The other three trips, between 5 and 10 May, were voted together and approved with the abstention of the Left Bloc, which through its parliamentary leader, Pedro Filipe Soares, informed that this vote was due to the head of state's trip to London for the coronation of the monarch of the United Kingdom.
In a letter to Parliament, the head of state said he planned to travel to London between 5 and 6 May, to Yuste, Spain, between 8 and 9 May, and to Strasbourg between 9 and 10 May.
Oh, pass me the bucket.
More tax payers money wasted on back slapping.

What a waste of time. Marcelo would be better having a nice weekend relaxing at a river beach under the sun.

Why would the Head of State if a republic attend the archaic, mediaeval ritual of an English coronation? Bizzare!
