According to a report by idealista, the capital features in the ranking of the 25 most sought-after cities by the richest people in the world to buy a home. Lisbon occupies 20th place in the Barnes Index City 2023, having risen four places compared to last year's list. The table is led by Paris, which in 2022 occupied the fifth position. The French capital dethroned, moreover, the North American city of Miami, which this year occupies second place.
Completing the podium of the cities most sought after by millionaires to buy a home is New York (USA), with Austin (USA) and Dubai (United Arab Emirates) completing the top five.
Lisbon in 20th is ranked higher than Barcelona (Spain), Singapore (Singapore), Dallas (USA), Copenhagen (Denmark) and Munich (Germany).
Are the "lisboetas" millionaires or just among those with the lowest salaries in Western Europe? Ah! I forgot that Lisboa is not anymore for the Portuguese but rather a city for EU and American millionaires! The locals are mostly the waiters serving the rich foreign tourists!
