"The inclusion of Portugal in Vice President Han's first tour abroad is a sign of the importance of friendship between Portugal and China", wrote António Costa in a message published on Twitter.
The leader of the Portuguese executive received the vice president of China in São Bento.
"We discussed the deepening of the bilateral relationship in areas such as energy transition, tourism or agri-food, bearing in mind the need to find a greater balance in our trade", said António Costa on the topics of the work meeting in São Bento.

Afterwards, the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, had a working lunch at Palácio de Belém with the Vice President of China, a meeting that included bilateral relations and matters relating to international affairs on the agenda.
According to a note released by the Presidency of the Republic, Han Zheng has been visiting Portugal since Sunday, where he will remain until Wednesday.
Can someone please remind Costa that China is a one-party dictatorship (ring any recent bells! ) with repressive policies at home, resulting in arresting lawyers, feminists, and pastors of Christian congregations, placing Muslim Uyghur's into coercive "education camps," imposed draconian security laws in Hong Kong, threatening to invade Taiwan and supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Chinese regime not only opposes the values that underpin the free world but are fundamentally hostile to them and are totally untrustworthy, breaking their word whenever doing so suits them.
