“That door is completely closed. I said when I signed [for Al Nassr], I'm already 38 and a half years old and it's not worth it. In my view, Europe has lost a lot of quality”, said the striker to journalists, after the friendly game between Al Nassr and Celta de Vigo that the Spaniards won 5-0, at Estádio Algarve.
Cristiano Ronaldo later explained that “the only league in the world” that he sees “at a higher level than all others” is the English Premier League.
“The Spanish League does not have that great quality, the Portuguese League is a good league but it is not a top league, in my opinion, and the German League also I think it lost a lot. I'm sure I won't play in Europe anymore”, reinforced the Portuguese international.
Asked about a possible foray into the North American League (MLS), as happened with Lionel Messi, who reinforced Inter Miami, Cristiano Ronaldo was clear: “No. In [Saudi] Arabia, the championship is much better than in the United States".
The Portuguese international, who started training last week, played the first minutes in a pre-season game for Al Nassr, having played only the first half against the Spanish side Celta de Vigo, in the opening of the Algarve Trophy.
On Thursday, Al Nassr faces Benfica and Cristiano Ronaldo hopes to play “perhaps 60, 70 minutes” to continue gaining form.
