The number of requests for Local Accommodation (AL) licenses soared 68% in the first half of the year. From January to June, 11,285 new properties were registered, the highest number on record.
The calculations were made by Dinheiro Vivo/Diário de Notícias, using data available in the National Register of Local Accommodation Establishments (RNAL). The papers also compared with the first half of 2018, which was up until now the year with the most AL registrations, and new licenses rose by 6%.
The Associação do Alojamento Local in Portugal (ALEP) considers that the increase in requests for licenses was a response “to the environment of uncertainty and irrationality” caused by the Mais Habitação package.
