The Vilamoura Golf Club player took full advantage of the novelty in the regulation of the competition, which, in 2023, joined the under-16 to the under-18, to become the first champion of this prestigious tournament to come from the under-16 level.

He led from the first lap and triumphed with 214 strokes, 2 under par on the O'Connor Jr. Course, after laps of 70, 73 and 71.

He beat his clubmate, João Maria Ivo de Carvalho, who took 2nd place, despite boasting the same result as Sweden's Axel Elmlund.

The tiebreaker system (the best last lap) declared the 2nd and 3rd placed. Both totalled 230 strokes, 14 over par, the Portuguese with rounds of 78, 75 and 77, and the Scandinavian with rounds of 77, 72 and 81.

"I hope to follow in the footsteps of players who have already won this tournament and who can reach the highest level. With work and a lot of training I will get there. The goal has been fulfilled and I hope it gives me more confidence to win more tournaments," said João Crasi Alves, the champion.

It was the first time in the history of the tournament that all the winners were Portuguese and the Vilamoura Golf Club stood out with three titles, and then in the year that Vilamoura won the National Club Championship, both in under-14 and under-18.

In this Amendoeira World Kids Golf were four of the players who were part of the national champion teams of Vilamoura: Rodrigo Sousa Correia and Salvador Ivo de Carvalho in the under-14 formation, João Maria Ivo de Carvalho and João Crasi Alves in the under-18 set.

The Amendoeira World Kids Golf was the first international Portuguese youth tournament to count towards the amateur world ranking. It is sanctioned by FPG and recognised by the R&A.
