The numbers are highlighted by Informa D&B in a press release, based on an analysis it carried out on the rent-a-car sector.

The same document states that “in 2022 this sector saw its business grow 64% compared to 2012, to a value of 780 million euros”.

To respond to the increase in demand recorded in 2022, the fleets of rent-a-car companies were expanded by 30%, reaching 80,452 units in 2022. Despite this expansion, it is indicated that “the sector faces a significant deficit of vehicles, and it is expected that in the short term companies will accelerate purchases of passenger cars”.

Informa D&B also points out that the supply of rent-a-car companies is significantly concentrated, with the five main operators holding a combined market share of almost 62% in 2022, while that of the top ten was around 80%.
