The commercial value of a coin is determined by its authenticity, circulation, state of conservation and the metal in which it was minted. The currency rate also varies depending on the form and location of transactions.

1922 1 cent coin (bronze): €60,000 – €85,000

The rarest and most valuable coin from the Portuguese Republic is the 1 cent from 1922, of which only six copies have been identified. In 2002, one of these copies was sold for €60,000 at auction, and, later, in 2006, another example was sold for €85,000, also at auction. This last known value represents the current state of the market for this coin.
