All districts of mainland Portugal will be under a yellow weather warning on Thursday due to the forecast of heavy rain, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

In the coming days, in addition to rain, strong winds and rough seas are also expected in mainland Portugal and Madeira.

The yellow rain warning for the 18 districts will be in force between 3pm and 9pm on Thursday.

The districts of Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga are once again under a yellow warning between 09:00 and 15:00 on Friday due to rain.

The IPMA has also issued an orange warning for Porto, Viana do Castelo and Braga between 12:00 and 18:00 on Thursday due to maritime unrest.

The districts of Faro, Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Aveiro and Coimbra will also be under a yellow warning due to rough seas until 06:00 on Saturday.

The Institute also issued a yellow warning for Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Faro, Vila Real, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga due to the forecast of south/southwest wind with gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the highlands.

The yellow wind warning will be in force between 9am and 6pm on Thursday.
