While wet weather is forecast, the month of March is however expected to be warmer than usual overall.
According to forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), above-normal precipitation values (1 to 30mm) are expected for the North and Center regions in the 1st and 4th weeks (from 26/02 to 15/03 and from 18/03 to 24/03). For the interior South region (1 to 10mm), in the week of 04/03 to 10/03 and for the entire territory (1 to 10mm), in the week of 11/03 to 17/03.
For average weekly temperatures, values below normal (-1 to -0.25°C) are expected for the interior of the territory, in the 1st week of March.
In the 2nd week, it is not possible to identify the existence of statistically significant ups or downs. In the 3rd and 4th weeks, values above normal (+0.25 to 1°C) are expected for areas close to the coast and for almost the entire country.
What I have learnt from weather forecasts around the world ( including IPMA, BBC, Google and others) is that none of them are consistently correct to predict rainfall for more than 3 days in advance for a certain region. There are two many unknown variables to do this.
