According to the Sub-Regional Command, that section of IP4 in the Amarante municipality, in the Porto district, has been closed in both directions since 8:20 am and will only reopen as soon as the weather conditions get better.

The access to Serra da Estrela has remained closed to traffic since Friday, 8 March, due to snow, confirmed the Beiras and Serra da Estrela sub-regional command of the National Civil Protection and Emergency Authority.

Mainland Portugal recorded 36 incidents by night, according to Civil Protection reports. Of the incidents recorded, 20 relate to road cleaning, not being registered any record of material damage or victims.

Civil protection warns the population to take preventive measures due to worsening atmospheric conditions, sea disturbances, wind, and snowfall.
