In an operation conducted by the Municipality of Lagoa, with the support of the Port Authority of Portimão, with the collaboration of one of the owners of one of the vessels, the removal was conducted by a private company.
The operation was carried out to remove three sailboats that had run aground in Praia Grande, in Ferragudo at the end of 2023, and another that ran aground last week, as a result of the storms that have occurred in recent months.
The Municipality of Lagoa asked a private company to remove the 7.90 metre vessel “Lady Stray” and the 9 metre vessel “Bitten”, apparently of Swedish origin, whose owner could not be identified. The removal of the 11 meter “RAN” vessel was requested by the owner, and carried out in the same operation.
The removal of the fourth vessel stranded in Praia Grande, called “Thor”, is scheduled for April 7th, when the tide will be “more favorable” to carry out the operation. This operation will be assisted by a tugboat from the Port of Sines.
