The islands of Porto Santo, in Madeira, and Flores, in the western group of the Azores, are currently at high risk and the islands of Faial and Terceira, in the central group, are at moderate levels.
At the weekend, all districts of the continent and the Madeira archipelago will be at very high risk of exposure to UV radiation.
As for the Azores, on Saturday, São Miguel, in the eastern group of the Azores, will have very high levels, Faial and Terceira with high values, and Flores at moderate risk.
On Sunday, Faial and Terceira will have high levels and Flores and São Miguel will be at moderate risk.
The ultraviolet radiation scale has five levels, between extreme and low risk.
For regions at extreme risk, IPMA recommends avoiding exposure to the sun as much as possible.
With regard to regions with very high risk, IPMA advises the use of sunglasses with a UV filter, a hat, a t-shirt, an umbrella, and sunscreen, and avoid exposing children to the sun.
