According to Expresso newspaper, TAP's CEO, Luís Rodrigues, is optimistic about the company's operations and its ability to respond in the summer, the sector's peak season, despite anticipating that occasional cancellations may occur.

“Airlines are never quiet in the summer,” said the president of TAP, speaking to journalists after the 27th world conference of ATRS, the Air Transport Research Society, which is taking place this week at the Instituto Superior de Educação e Ciências, in Lisbon.

Luís Rodrigues is not worried about possible constraints at the country’s main airport. “We have worked with all elements of the ecosystem to ensure the most peaceful summer possible. We are optimistic about that,” he stressed.

Adding, “There may be occasional cancellations, but at the moment everything is normal.”

Regarding the privatisation of TAP, which he has already argued should be partial, leading to a reprimand from the government, the manager did not want to comment but admitted that there would be news soon. “The minister has already made it public that there would be news in September”, he stressed. He assures, however, that he “did not speak” with the government about the subject.
