As part of the strategy to modernise its store network in Portugal, Lidl has inaugurated a store in Arcos de Valdevez, in the same location as the previous one, with an investment of 6 million euros, including works to implement sidewalks, repaving the roundabout and zebra crossings in the surrounding area.

This is the only store in the municipality which is located in the district of Viana do Castelo. The store has employed 30 employees, offering employees an open-ended contract, health insurance which extends to their household under very advantageous conditions, as well as other benefits. In addition to these incentives, all Lidl Portugal employees have access to initial and continued training and excellent career opportunities within the company.

With a sales area of about 1400m2, the store has a modern and attractive architectural design. It has wider corridors, a higher ceiling and a façade made entirely of glass which gives greater light to its interior. Customers have at their disposal the bakery service, where dozens of varieties of bread and pastries are available daily, with a bread cutting machine, a freshly squeezed orange juice machine that allows a healthy refreshment, as well as an area where you can buy cod and roast chicken.

To facilitate payment, the store has, in addition to its usual cashiers, six fast payment cashiers in self-service. The outdoor space of the store is equipped with receptacles for orders and a self-service laundry. With the well-being of employees in mind, the new store includes a staff room and a modern and comfortable changing room area.

Reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainability and the environment, the Lidl store in Arcos de Valdevez has opted for the use of LED lighting, which includes the pre-installation of solar panels, which integrates a space that will allow the management of containers and is equipped with a heat pump for heating domestic hot water, in addition to two charging stations for electric cars. These fast charging stations make it possible to recharge 80% of the battery in just 30 minutes, which allows refuelling during a regular shopping trip.

To celebrate this opening, Lidl will offer a €5 coupon for the first two weeks to all customers registered in the Lidl Plus app to discount a minimum purchase of €35 in this store, valid for 7 days. In addition to this offer, all users of the Lidl Plus app have access to information about Lidl and its products.

As part of the partnership with the Realimenta programme, with the dual objective of supporting the community and fighting food waste, the new store will benefit the Parish and Social Center of Guilhadeses, an institution to which Lidl has been providing support to since 2018. In 2023, the retailer delivered through the Realimenta program to this IPSS, a total of almost 10 tons of goods to a total of more than 250 beneficiaries.

The store is located in Lugar de Souto, Parish of Paço, 4970-243 Arcos de Valdevez, and is open daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. The park includes 118 car parking spaces as well as space for bicycles.
