On Tuesday, 20 August, at 10.30 pm Carolina Deslandes stepped on to the stage of Fatacil in what can be described as a memorable night.

Back in Fatacil for the second time, Carolina Deslandes shared with The Portugal News her thoughts about that unforgettable night, which filled Fatacil’s venue with people of all ages.

“It was better than I expected”, the artist shared adding that “I have the concert in Fatacil back in 2018 etched in my memory as one of my first big concerts, and now I came back and it was even better than I was expecting”.

An empty venue is always an artist's biggest fear. Carolina mentioned that “When I arrived it was completely empty and I was panicked thinking that no one was coming, and suddenly I went from seeing an empty space to seeing a space full of people”. The singer known for major hits such as ‘A Vida Toda’, ‘Avião de Papel’ and ‘Saia da Carolina’ emphasised, “The change from empty to full is always a feeling that I don't think I will ever get used to. And gladly it is that way, as it is always a surprise that you can never get tired of”.

Singing well-known songs that the audience loves and knows by heart, the most important aspect of Carolina Deslandes’ songs is the multiple messages it convey. "I believe we are in a phase where we talk more about having than being, about what we can accomplish and possess, when I believe that we should just live, try to find our identity and work on our flaws”.

During the concert, little children and old folks could be seen singing along to the same songs and interpreting the song’s lyrics each one of them in their own and unique way. “I want to make it clear that you can work on yourself, attempt to heal your traumas, talk about them, and love yourself”, the artist warmly shared, also noting that "It took me a long time to like myself, so that is why I try to help everyone so that their journey to self-esteem and self-love is a little shorter than mine was”.

Throughout the course of more than an hour and a half, Carolina and her talented band kept the audience captivated by using some humour and sharing some personal stories in between songs. Along with her well-known hits, the performer amazed us with other fantastic songs, most of them from her album, ‘CAOS’, released in 2023, which includes songs like ‘Eco’, ‘Trauma de Abandono’, and ‘Precipícios’.
