Organised by the Rock‘n’Cave Cultural Association, in partnership with the Space Ensemble and with the support of the Directorate-General for the Arts, the itinerant festival “will continue to visit emblematic venues in Montemor-o-Velho (Coimbra district), Castelo de Paiva (Aveiro) and Mondim de Basto (Vila Real)”.
In the district of Viana do Castelo, the festival will take place in Paredes de Coura and Caminha, with the municipality of Arcos joining the event this year.
According to the organisation, “despite the focus” of the festival being “on national projects, the program already has some international confirmations, such as OTTO, a French percussion trio, and Camille Emaille, one of the percussionists from OTTO who will perform solo”.
The performances of the Portuguese bands Aether - Cruzamento, Dullmea and PHONOSPERMIA have been confirmed.
The Space Ensemble, “a resident artistic project that originated in the first editions of the festival, will perform with various musical groups and in various locations, especially taking on the educational service programme with the film-concert 'Music For Short Films', and the participatory show Cine-música, in partnership with students from the Fernandes Fão Academy in Vila Praia de Âncora", in the municipality of Caminha.
According to the organisers, the festival “remains committed to promoting encounters between artists, spaces and unlikely audiences, stimulating territorial cohesion in the presentation and enjoyment of shows in the field of experimental and improvised music”.
In addition to the programme for the general public, the organisation “is once again investing in proposals for educational services, institutions and families, encouraging people to get closer to this type of music through mediation activities”.
In this year's edition, the festival “includes a new venue with unique architecture and acoustics, the Baroque Interpretation Centre in Arcos de Valdevez, a recently renovated space that houses some of the best examples of Portuguese religious art from the 17th and 18th centuries”.
As in previous editions, the festival will use, among others, the Esther de Carvalho Theatre in Montemor-o-Velho, the Favo das Artes in Mondim de Bastos, the Paredes de Coura Cultural Centre, the municipal auditorium in Castelo de Paiva and the Valadares Theatre in Caminha.
