Speaking to Lusa, a source from the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command said that the victim was crossing the line on foot when he was hit by the train, in the Marim area, municipality of Olhão.
At 8:30 am, 18 members of the firefighters, INEM, GNR and Infrastructures of Portugal were on-site, supported by seven vehicles.
The Algarve Line connects the railway stations of Vila Real de Santo António to Lagos.
