In addition to the meeting points and the LXResist platform, Lisbon residents can also receive SMS from municipal civil protection, specific to alerts in the capital, for which they need to register by sending the text AVISOSLX to the number 927 944 000.
The presentation of measures took place today at Lisbon City Hall, two days before the 269th anniversary of the earthquake, followed by the ‘tsunami’, in Lisbon, on November 1, 1755.
The 86 official meeting points, together, have the capacity to accommodate more than 600 thousand people and are available in all parishes, after being identified in a risk analysis by municipal civil protection.
The meeting points can be found at the link www.lisboa.pt/temas/seguranca-e-prevencao/protecao-civil/planeamento-de-emergencia/pontos-de-encontro .
It is to the point closest to home or work that everyone should move in the event of a disaster which means staying at home or inside a building is unsafe, such as an earthquake, tsunami, floods, or fire.
The LxReSist Platform should be operational from today and contains information that citizens can consult to prepare for any catastrophe.
LxReSist will help find solutions to mitigate the impact of an earthquake depending on the types of buildings common in Lisbon and will teach you how to protect the house and its contents (fixing furniture to the wall, for example), how to act in the event of an earthquake, how to an “escape” plan with the family and how to prepare an emergency 'kit', which must be prepared in advance.
