Five years after Abel Ferreira, the coach who guided Botafogo to the Libertadores Cup and the Brasileirão is the second Portuguese coach to earn this honour from the esteemed publication in as many years.

Artur Jorge won yet another honour on the day he gave a lengthy interview to Maisfutebol. He was voted the best coach in South America, surpassing both Argentina's Lionel Scaloni and Racing Cube's Gustavo Costas.

Thus, Artur Jorge is the second Portuguese to win this honour from El País, following Abel Ferreira in 2021, when he won his second Libertadores while leading Palmeiras in addition to the Brasileirão.
