In collaboration with Siemens teams in the United States, the Portugal Tech Hub played a pivotal role in creating the Decarbonization Business Optimizer (DBO). This digital tool, launched by Siemens Financial Services, is designed to simplify the decarbonization process for facilities and streamline the financial planning needed to achieve carbon neutrality.

Unveiled recently in New York, the DBO represents a milestone in technological innovation, highlighting Siemens Portugal's expertise in information technologies. As a central part of Siemens' international IT competence network, the Portugal Tech Hub spearheaded the development of this tool, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in sustainable solutions.

DBO allows businesses to digitally customize their decarbonization strategies, eliminating knowledge barriers and identifying the most efficient pathways to sustainability. Leveraging data from credible sources such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the tool generates economically viable scenarios based on location, size, and facility type.

One of the standout features of DBO is its ability to provide precise carbon footprint estimates and energy cost analyses tailored to specific geographic data. This level of precision surpasses estimates based on national averages, enabling businesses to make well-informed decisions. Additionally, the platform evaluates annual energy consumption and offers insights into integrating technologies like solar panels and thermal energy storage systems.

The DBO is designed to evolve continuously, with planned updates including support for fleet electrification and infrastructure assessments to withstand extreme weather conditions. This adaptability ensures that businesses remain equipped to tackle future sustainability challenges.

Free to access in the United States via Siemens Xcelerator, an open digital business platform, the DBO simplifies digital transformation and accelerates its positive impact. While tailored for the U.S. market, the tool's versatility makes it applicable in other regions as well.

By enabling precise assessments and strategic decision-making, the Decarbonization Business Optimizer reinforces Siemens Portugal's commitment to innovation and sustainability. It serves as a powerful tool for companies striving to achieve carbon neutrality, highlighting Portugal's role as a global leader in digital transformation and environmental responsibility.
