Roger Thiberville, a Paris-based meteorologist, left the Normandy town that he was named after most of his €10 million fortune despite never visiting it.

Guy Paris, mayor of the town, announced plans to use part of the generous offering to pay off a €400,000 loan for a new primary school while carefully considering other investments.
Thiberville's attractions include a late 19th-century château, a former ribbon factory, and the grand Basilica constructed in honour of Saint Thérèse at Lisieux.
