“The unemployment rate was estimated at 6.4%, a value lower than that of November (0.2 percentage points) and September 2024 (0.1 percentage points), remaining the same as that of December 2023”, advances the National Institute of Statistics (INE) in the “Monthly Employment and Unemployment Estimates” for December.

According to INE, this is the "lowest level since August 2024, when it equalled this value".

Data released by the statistical institute, with definitive values ​​for November 2024, revised the unemployment rate for that month downwards to 6.6%, one-tenth below the 6.7% estimated on January 6 and a value equal to that of October and 0.1 percentage points higher than that of November 2023.
