According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) released today, 411 people are now hospitalised, 28 more than on Thursday, of which 65 are in intensive care units, plus one in the last 24 hours.

The three deaths were registered in the Azores, in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and in the Algarve.

According to the DGS, the fatal victims are aged between 50 and 59 years, from 70 to 79 years and people aged 80 or over.

Since March 2020, 18,234 people have died and 1,104,189 cases of infection have been recorded.

The greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated among the elderly over 80 years old (11,898), followed by the age groups between 70 and 79 years old (3,905) and between 60 and 69 years old (1,658).

Of the total number of fatalities registered to date in Portugal, 9,553 were men and 8,681 women.

In the last 24 hours, the number of contacts under surveillance by the health authorities rose (more 2,698), now standing at 29,618.

The new coronavirus has already infected in Portugal at least 511,449 men and 591,985 women, according to data from the DGS, according to which there are 755 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, since this information is not provided automatically .

Among the new infections, the age group from 20 to 29 years old (over 269) stands out, followed by 40 to 49 years old (261), from 30 to 39 years old (245), from zero to nine years old (224), from 50 aged 59 (222), aged 10–19 (173), aged 60–69 (172), aged 70–79 (125), and aged over 80 (61).

The highest number of infections in the last 24 hours occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, where 549 were reported, with 425,950 cases and 7,759 deaths so far.

The Northern region registered 472 new infections by SARS-CoV-2, totalling 419,590 cases of infection and 5,614 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic crisis.

In the Centre region there were 461 more cases, totalling 150,256 infections and 3,195 deaths.

In the Alentejo, 60 new cases of infection were reported, totalling 40,645 infections and 1,056 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Algarve region, today's DGS bulletin counts 113 new cases, accumulating 44,960 infections by SARS-CoV-2 and 487 deaths.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira registered 57 new cases, totalling 13,210 infections and 76 deaths due to the covid-19 disease since March 2020.

In the last 24 hours, and according to DGS, the Azores registered 39 new cases, which raises to 9,578 infections since the beginning of the pandemic and 47 deaths due to the disease.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.
