In a note published on its website, Metropolitano de Lisboa informs passengers that, due to the strike, the transport service is expected to stop from 6:30 am to 10:00 am, with circulation expected to return to normal from 10:30 am.

“Taking into account the result of the meeting with the Metropolitano administration being zero, the unions reaffirm the strike on the 14th [Thursday], between 5:00 and 10:00”, says the Federation of Transport Unions and Communications (Fectrans) in a statement.

According to the note, the unions were called to a meeting with the transport company on Monday, thinking that the meeting “could bring with it the resolution of the conflict, but they quickly realized that what the company fundamentally wanted was the suspension of that same strike without any counterpart”.

The strike, like the one that occurred on the 6th, was decided by the workers in plenary and is intended to require the carrier to pay for so-called variable payments (overtime and holidays) and compliance with the Business Agreement.

Regarding non-compliance with the Business Agreement, the union points to issues such as working conditions, career progression and reduction in working hours.

The Lisbon Metropolitan operates daily with four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia) and Red (Airport-São Sebastião).

Typically, the service operates between 06:30 and 01:00.
