"Among the [projects] that are more clarified, we are talking about 816 rooms, in projects to be developed from now on until 2026, 2027", said the CEO of the group, Miguel Proença.
According to the administrator of the Ricardo Rodrigues group, the first project to advance, "in principle in the first quarter of next year, will be in Braga", with "a hotel with 109 rooms right in the centre" of the city.
"It will be a themed hotel in the historic centre and, therefore, will be the first post-Covid project to be launched by the group".
He added that there are still two projects in the pipeline "awaiting licensing" from the Chamber of Viana do Castelo and Famalicão, which will be "two Meliá units, with more or less 120 rooms".
"But these processes will only advance effectively once the licensing is approved by the autarchies", he said, adding that they have yet another project, which the group won under the Revive Program in São João da Madeira.
"We are also working on the launch of a Star Inn development from scratch in Aveiro. We have bought the land, it is still in the embryonic licensing process, but it is one of the projects that the group has to develop".
"We also have other plots of land that are still unlicensed and other situations with licensed projects that we have not yet been able to develop, such as a plot of land in Largo do Rato, in Lisbon. We also have another project on standby in Vila Real de Santo António", he added.
The Hoti Hotéis Group currently has 18 hotels, namely the Meliá, Star Inn, Tryp and Moxy (Marriot) brands, 17 in Portugal and one, Meliá Maputo, in Mozambique.
