The reopening on Friday of next week is accompanied by the "prohibition of the consumption of alcoholic beverages on public roads", said the Prime Minister.
As part of the containment of the Covid-19 pandemic, with greater restrictions over the Christmas and New Year period, nightlife venues (bars, drinking establishments without entertainment and establishments with a dance space) have been closed since 00:00 on 25 December, with the measure then expected to last until 9 January.
Prior to the current closure, bars and nightclubs - which reopened in October for the first time since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in Portugal, after being shut down for 19 months - were already accessible only on presentation of a negative test (antigen or PCR) or certificate of recovery, even for people vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2.
Customers do not have to wear masks in these spaces, unlike workers, according to the Directorate-General of Health.
