According to Eurostat, the total underground gas storage capacity in the EU is 100 billion cubic meters, spread over 160 sites in 18 Member States, including Portugal.
However, 75% of the total gas storage capacity is concentrated in five countries: Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands and Austria.
Portugal comes last on the list with a gas storage capacity of just 3.6 terawatt-hours.
Not the best in the world? Not the best in Europe? Must be a problematic marketing ploy.
