“At this moment it is absolutely crucial that the Government reduces the VAT on catering from 13% to 6%, because with all this pressure (…) we are already witnessing many restaurants closing and many others are experiencing extreme difficulties”, declared Daniel Serra, president of Pro.Var.
According to Daniel Serra, the situation is “really very serious” and that is why the Pro.Var association will meet with businesses in the sector on Tuesday to cover the topics of “inflationary pressure” and the creation of “measures” to respond to crisis of the war-related price increase in Ukraine.
A 7% reduction will effective be an increase for business profits. why should restaurant owner only benefit when cost of living has risen for all people living or visiting Portugal.
