At very high risk are the districts of Vila Real, Bragança, Aveiro, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Lisbon and Setúbal.
The IPMA has also placed the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Portalegre, Évora, Beja and Faro, the islands of Terceira and Faial (Azores) and Madeira at high risk of exposure to UV radiation.
The islands of Porto Santo, Flores and São Miguel are currently at moderate risk.
The ultraviolet radiation scale has five levels, between extreme and low risk.
For regions with very high risk, the IPMA advises the use of sunglasses with a UV filter, a hat, t-shirt, parasol, sunscreen and that children should not be exposed to the sun.
