“Most infections have been reported, to date, in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, but there are also cases in the North and Algarve regions”, adds the entity led by Graças Freitas in a note published on the website.
All confirmed infections are in men between the ages of 19 and 61, most of whom are under 40, says the DGS, adding that the identified cases remain “under clinical follow-up” and are “stable”.

The CDC ramped up its alert to a level 2 on Monday, encouraging people to “practice enhanced precautions” to stem the outbreak, which has spread to 29 nonendemic countries in the past month. The highest level alert — level 3 — would caution against nonessential travel.
