The data from the Gaming Regulation and Inspection Service
(SRIJ) and the Ministry of Economy reveal that the pandemic years, 2020 and
2021, were the ones that provided a greater fit for the State, through the
special tax on gaming and fees of licenses and systems approval. In 2020, gross
revenue increased by 120.9 million (up 56.2%) compared to 2019, while in 2021,
gross revenue grew by 136.6 million (up 111.3%) compared to the pre-pandemic
period.
Online games had a total of 759,800 regular participants. In
the last year, online games generated 508.6 million euros, more than triple the
143.9 million euros of gross revenue from gambling in casinos, slot machines
and conventional bingo.
