Mayor João Paulo Guerreiro told Lusa at around 1pm, that the “situation is worrying”, since “there are houses close” to the flames.

“The re-ignition took place at 10:30am”, with “four or five fires”, he said.

The mayor also stated that the fire affects several villages in the parish of Pelmá.

At 1:25pm, the website of the Civil Protection Emergency Authority said that 402 operatives were on the ground supported by 114 vehicles and nine air assets.
