This flight takes place within the scope of a partnership
signed by TAP, Galp and ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal, which intend to come
together for the development, production and supply of sustainable fuels for
large-scale aviation, from waste, used oils and other sustainable raw
materials.
This Friday's flight will make the connection between Lisbon
and Ponta Delgada, in an Airbus 321LRneo. Previously, an Air France flight and
another Transavia flight had already landed in Portugal that used these fuels,
but never before had a plane been refuelled and taken off from Portuguese
territory with this fuel.
The fuel incorporated 39% of matter of renewable origin
(HEFA), with less total emissions when compared to the fossil alternative. The
emission reduction on this flight was 7.1 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent
(CO2eq), which represents a 35% decrease in total CO2 emissions.
