The report found that 61
percent of people in Portugal trust most news, most of the time, a number only
surpassed by Finland where 69 percent of the population trust most of the news,
most of the time.
The report found lower
levels of overall trust in 21 of the 46 markets assessed in the world, partly
reversing the gains made at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, while the
global average level of trust was 42 percent.
After Finland and
Portugal, the next countries with a high level of trust in the news are South
Africa (61 percent), Denmark (58 percent), Netherlands (56 percent), Norway (56
percent) and Thailand (53 percent).
At the other end of the scale, countries with the lowest levels of trust include the UK (34 percent), France (29 percent), Spain (32 percent) and the USA (26 percent).
That is certainly not something to be proud of.
'I believe whatever telly says, why think for myself, innit' is rather primitive.
However, I'd be lying if I said I'm surprised. It's tragic how many people, Portuguese or not, take whatever telly tells them, for gospel, and worship it like an oracle of truth.

As an American living in Portugal, I can say there is no comparison between the quality of Portuguese news and US news. It’s such a pleasure to read news in Portugal. The Portuguese language news I read here is free, not designed to get me to click on anything, not designed to make me buy something, not part of a mega corporation with a strictly monetary agenda. Most importantly, the news reporting I read here is not designed to create outrage (in order to capture attention, and therefore to capture money). Thank you Portugal for having such great, readable, and reasonable, news.

guida, wait a minute! I remember your comments: aren't you one of the people who believe every word the news tells you about the covid, mask and vax narrative??? Irony Lol
