Holding signs that read "I'm a TAP pilot and I'm also a
taxpayer" and "I'm sorry, I'm a TAP pilot", more than 400 pilots
protested in silence, only interrupted by applause.
The Civil Aviation Pilots' Union (SPAC) called a
demonstration, for this Tuesday, aimed at workers who are not on duty, against
the "rules and injustices" of the TAP administration.
At stake, according to SPAC, are the refusals of the Board
of Directors of TAP Air Portugal to hold workers' meetings.
The purpose of the demonstration is to show dissatisfaction
with the "rules, injustices and the way in which the administration and
guardianship have managed the company and the employment relationship with the
pilots", according to the union.
TAP said today that it regrets not having reached an
agreement with its pilots, stating that it remains "committed to finding
solutions that guarantee the sustainability of the company and all its
workers".
The carrier's official source told Lusa that the company
"regrets that it has not yet reached an agreement with its pilots, who are
essential to the company", and that it remains "committed to finding
solutions that ensure the sustainability of the company and all its their
workers".
The union assured that the demonstration had no impact on
the flights scheduled for today, since the approximately 500 participants were pilots
on leave, vacation, or who had retired.
