Non-wage costs contributed more to this evolution than wage
costs, which grew by 6.3%. Also in this period, there was an increase of 4% in
the average cost per worker and a decrease of 1.5% in the number of hours
worked.
“In the second quarter of 2022, the Labour Cost Index (ICT)
increased by 5.7% compared to the same period in 2021 (it had increased by 1.4%
in the previous quarter). Wage costs (per hour actually worked) increased by
5.6% (0.7% in the previous quarter) and other labour costs (also per hour
actually worked) increased by 6.3% (4.2% in the previous quarter)”, says the
INE.
