“Madeira will be a pioneer and will recommend vaccination of
all citizens over 55 years old, in addition to all others to whom - due to
their vulnerability and professional activity, namely health professionals - it
is also recommended, and is carried out free of charge”, said Pedro Ramos.
Regarding the flu vaccination campaign, the official
indicated that Madeira had ordered 55,000 doses, and their reception depends on
their arrival in Portugal.
Of this total, 52,000 are for administration to citizens in
general, within the indicated age (now five years below 60, the usual age), and
the other 3,000 are intended for residents in elderly facilities.
Pedro Ramos also stressed that the dates for the administration
of the fourth dose of vaccination against Covid-19, namely 05, 12 and 19
September, have already been set, with a view to Madeira “receiving 51,840
doses for the entire population”.
The official recalled that 92% of the population residing in
the archipelago has the initial vaccination against Covid-19 and 91% is fully
vaccinated, with 52% of the inhabitants still receiving the first booster dose.
