The action, which has the support of the Municipality of
Sesimbra, is part of the set of activities organised to mark the World Tourism
Day, which is celebrated next Monday, and aims to highlight “the importance of marine
protection and combat climate change”, explained the association.
The event starts at 08:00 on Saturday and will try to beat
the world record set in 2019, in Florida, United States, which brought together
633 divers in 24 hours.
In Sesimbra, a judge from the Guinness World Records organisation
will also be present in order to monitor and validate the number of
participants, who will have a maximum of 30 to 40 minutes to dive.
Oceanum Liberandum is now appealing to all certified divers
to register for the event, using the form available on the association's
website.
Registration costs 15 euros, which, according to the
association, will help the local diving centres involved in the initiative.
