Among the various countries in the world to travel in 2022,
the readers of the international magazine Condé Nast Traveler chose Portugal as
the best destination for a holiday. And while European countries dominated this
year's Reader's Choice Awards list, Portugal is the only European destination
to enter the top five.
Portugal has been honoured as a destination of choice for
travel. It was considered the 'Best Destination in Europe' in the regional
edition of the World Travel Awards. And now it has returned to the top of Condé
Nast Traveler's Reader's Choice Awards, repeating the feat of 2021.
Europe “dominating”
In this poll, that brought together 48 countries from around
the world, “Europe dominated the list of winners of this year's Reader's Choice
Awards, which brings together the best countries in the world to travel to”,
reads the international travel magazine. In addition to Portugal, in the first
10 places on the list of the best countries to travel in 2022, there are only two
more European countries: Greece, in sixth position, and Italy, in ninth.
For readers to carry out the online voting of the best
countries to travel, they have to evaluate a series of categories such as
hotels, resorts, spas or airports.
Friendly country
Portugal was also voted the second friendliest country in
Europe, with Ireland taking first place. “Portugal's location on the Atlantic
Ocean has made it a paradise for those looking to savour authentic maritime
life and culture. With long stretches of golden coast, villages nestled between
rice fields and dunes, and architecture from the 16th-19th centuries, it is a
country with much to recommend, especially the famous dishes of cod and grilled
sardines, which have become synonymous with the region", states the
publication.
Highlights are Lisbon and Porto for "attracting large
crowds". Also the "charming village of Marvão with its 13th century
walls and Amarante in the north".

Where is Pakistan on the list

Conde Nast? Never heard of and I travel a lot. Seems like a very biased list. The audience does not reflect world's travelers at all.

My first and last visit to "friendly" Ireland was marked on the day of arrival by having my car stolen as it was being unloaded outside my hotel. I had to hire a car from a "friendly" hire company who charged for an extra day as I was an hour late returning the car due to a lengthy detour in Dublin caused by a burst water main.

After seeing Italy on this list, I don't believe the article any more! To everyone I know that went there something bad happened (crime/trickery). They don't even speak any foreign languages!

There are 20 countries in the list and just a touch over 3 points between them. What does that tell us and what´s the point of it all?
