A friend told
me about this new show that has been aired on YouTube for the past few weeks, so
my young and glamorous assistant Jake put the telly on in the office and we all
sat there watching Girl Talk Algarve. I’ve always wondered what ladies
natter about over lunch or on the phone. I catch snippets of one end of
conversations my beloved has with her chums – the cackling laughter can be
heard throughout the house. She says it’s private but oh how I’d love to
be a fly on the wall!
Watching these
ladies is funny, sad, informative and about 20 minutes of escapism from this
troubled old world we currently live in. Lesley, Dawn and Eva are friends
on a mission to make us all laugh but also to address issues which probably
touch us all in one form or another. I was particularly impressed with
the latest episode where the ladies talked about alcohol addiction with a guest
appearance by a wonderful lady who opened up about her own journey with
alcohol.
Lesley, Dawn
and Eva have contrasting backgrounds which complement the discussions and bring
their own perspectives. The subjects they discuss are pertinent to everyday
life as it affects them individually. They don’t attempt to find the
solution to the problems of the world but rather to tackle what matters to
their audience. Incorporating everything from how you feel about your
children leaving home to spicing up your sex-life with your partner of 30 years
plus is no mean feat!
As an ancient
male of the species, I am now a subscriber to this brilliant show, Girl Talk
Algarve. And, more importantly, I feel I now have the tiniest insight into the
insanely complex life of a menopausal woman!
