According to the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), compared to the previous week, there were 489 more cases of infection, with the same number of deaths in both periods.
As for hospital occupancy in mainland Portugal due to covid-19, the DGS started to release data on hospitalizations for the Monday before the report was published on Fridays.
Based on this criterion, the bulletin indicates that, last Monday, 478 people were hospitalized, 13 more than on the same day of the previous week, with 35 patients in intensive care units, plus three.
According to the DGS bulletin, the seven-day incidence was, on Monday, at 75 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, having registered a 6% increase compared to the previous week, and the transmissibility index (Rt) of the coronavirus has reached the threshold of 1.00.
By region, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo recorded 2,567 cases between October 18 and 24, 47 less than in the previous period, and 23 deaths, two more.
The Central region accounted for 2,088 cases (plus 1,045) and seven deaths (minus two) and the North totalled 1,649 cases of infection (minus 208) and 15 deaths (plus one).
In e thAlentejo, 267 positive cases were recorded (minus 30) and one death (plus one) and in the Algarve there were 345 infections by SARS-CoV-2 (plus 33), with no death recorded.
As for the autonomous regions, the Azores had 250 new infections in the last seven days (minus 93) and no deaths (minus two), while Madeira recorded 587 cases in that period (minus 211) and one death (plus one), according to the DGS data.
