In Póvoa de Varzim, adverse weather conditions have led to the cancellation of the end-of-year party and fireworks, after a meeting between local authorities.

The municipality of Santo Tirso also released in a statement that it cancelled the entertainment program for New Year's Eve.

The New Year's Eve fireworks display was also cancelled in Amarante, the municipality announced on Facebook.

The Chamber of Chaves, on the other hand, cancelled the New Year's Eve festivities planned outdoors, with the exception of fireworks, which will take place on the banks of the Tâmega river at midnight.

During Friday Porto, Gaia and Matosinhos announced the cancellation of the New Year celebrations due to the worsening weather conditions.

The Viseu City Council and Viseu Marca also announced on Friday that the end of the year celebrations were cancelled, but will keep the fireworks.
