According to idealista the prices of houses for rent in the country rose 5.5% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter, settling at 13.6 euros per square meter (euros/m2) at the end of March ( median value).
In the first quarter of 2023, the rental price rose in almost all district capitals in the country with representative data, with Viseu (17.6%) leading the list. The list of cities where house rents rose the most follows Leiria (13.3%), Viana do Castelo (9.6%), Braga (8.4%), Faro (7.8%), Setúbal (6 .7%), Lisbon (6.6%), Funchal (5.2%), Coimbra (5%) and Santarém (1.5%).
In Porto (0.4%), the prices of houses for rent remained practically stable in this period. And in Aveiro (-7%) and Évora (-3.8%) house rents became cheaper between the first quarter of 2023 and the previous quarter.
Lisbon continues to be the city where it is most expensive to rent a house: 19.2 euros/m2. Porto (14.8 euros/m2) and Funchal (12.1 euros/m2) occupy the second and third places, respectively. Followed by Setúbal (10.3 euros/m2), Faro (10.2 euros/m2), Aveiro (10.1 euros/m2), Évora (9.8 euros/m2), Coimbra (8.5 euros/m2 m2), Braga (8.1 euros/m2) and Viana do Castelo (8 euros/m2).
The cheapest cities to rent a house in Portugal are Viseu (6.8 euros/m2), Santarém (6.9 euros/m2) and Leiria (7.7 euros/m2).
