The researchers have successfully manipulated cellulose to create a product that reduces mosquito feeding by 80 percent. The cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) form a strong and transparent barrier on the skin to prevent females from feeding and have already been used to help with other applications including soundproofing and removing dye from textiles.
