In a statement, the National Republican Guard (GNR) stated that the operation aims to contribute to the "reduction of road accidents, guarantee the flow of traffic and support all road users".

The GNR justifies this operation with the “substantial increase in traffic” during this time of the year especially due to the influx of foreign tourists, emigrants and travel by national citizens to holiday destinations.

During the operation, the GNR will focus on monitoring “risky behaviours” that jeopardise road safety, such as dangerous overtaking, driving under the influence of alcohol and psychotropic substances, driving without a legal license, speeding, incorrect or non-use of seat belts and use of mobile phones while driving.
